Europeans have 18 technical devices per household and more than a half has a tablet computer, shows the newest Samsung Techonomic Index Analysis.

According to the research, people spend 7.7 hours per day by using some technical device like mobile phone, TV, dishwasher or some cooking device.

Households in France, Germany, Spain or Italy have spent 367 Euros for technical devices in the last three months, while households in Great Britain have spent 218 Pounds.

As the research shows, compared to other generations, technology made family members closer than it separated them.

Almost two thirds (64%) of questioned people believe that technology like mobile phones, social media or e-mail made them closer to their family, having in mind that only 33% of family members today live at the same place, compared to earlier generations where 44% of family members lived with their family.

One half of questioned people agrees that mobile technologies contributes to the increase of conversation with the closest family members, and one out of four believs that keeping in touch via social media means that "they understand their family members better".

Also, 44% of adults who have participated this experiment and who are in touch with their parents, speak with them at least once per day, 40% of them speak with their brothers or sisters every two or three days or more often, while 57% of them communicates with their grandparents at least once a week or more often.

By questioning they also found out differences in family closeness in different European nations.

Italian and Spanish people are more connected to their parents, considering that almost a third has contacts with them more than once a day.

On the other side, in Germany, France or Great Britain, less than one out of five people keeps touch with their parents few times a day.

One quarter of examined people uses social network to communicate with their partners, while one out of ten people uses video calls to talk with them.

However, the research shows that technology could improve relations, but it also shows that it could ruin them, so, one out of 14 people who have ended their relations with their partner, used a message to do that.

Also, Samsung reveals ways how parents keep touch with their children, so one third of parents uses SMS to talk to them, 29% uses e-mail and 15% uses video calls.

The study is based on a research done on 5.000 people between 18 and 65 years in five European countries (Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain and Italy).
