You can add layers of complex features any time of the day, but these are the most essential features every ecommerce website must have.

Navigating through a complex e-commerce website is not something you want your customer to see the first time he comes to your website. That’s why you have to create and easy-to-move environment and some of the basic features that can make everyone’s life easier.

Mobile Friendly

Algorithms change often, and right now they are in complete favor of mobile-friendly websites, as they are now ranking in search above the websites that are not mobile optimized. Google judges that if you are not mobile-friendly you are not providing with quality experience for the customers (as growing number of Internet traffic is being done on mobile) so they rank you low. Customers that cannot see you can never come to you.

The number of unique monthly searches is over 100 billion, and over half of those come from a mobile device (DMR).

HTTPS Security

When you go to any website where you have to give personal information, you trust the website. If the website is not safe, browsers (at least all the good ones) warn the user that they are about to give personal information to a website that does not have an SSL certificate assigned.

Our own GLMall is protecting your information in this way. How?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information and data.
Your account is password protected and we use password protected directories and databases or SSL (Secure Sockets Layered) technology to safeguard your information.

We use professional and secure servers. Our servers are operating in countries with the highest legal standards with regard to internet privacy and we do not operate under any law which may force us to hand over any of your data without tightest legal control and justice.

If you make a payment transaction your information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers. All this information entered for transactions is solely handled by the payment provider of your choice.

Is the ecommerce website you want to use secure? Look for the green padlock and “https://” at the top of your browser.

Methods of Payment

Limiting your ecommerce website to only credit or debit card would be a very bad business move. There are many ways of online payment these days, and the most popular is PayPal. With, at least, this method of online payment you’ll cover a huge market and be able to go international, not only focusing on your country.

11 Alternative Payment Options

Reviews and Ratings

One of the most important parts of ecommerce website is the need for customers to rate and review the products they pay for, so not having this is not an option. Both positive and negative reviews are very good for your website as people can expect to see honest information. I know I always check the reviews before buying any product online. More ratings and reviews mean more business.

Rewards for Returning Users

One of the most common ways you can reward a user on your ecommerce website is to give them a discount. How? They register for free, subscribe to the newsletter and they become a member. That way you can communicate more with them and offer them products they might be interested in or send emails about the most popular products on your website. Maybe even create a few levels of customer experience like Gold Membership or something.
