You think it is finally a time to start your own blog?

Before you start to do anything consider that the web (especially blogosphere) is a very crowded place. With so strong competition you must to be sure you know how to start a blog that has something special to attract an audience.

It must be creative, attractive and clever. But more than anything it must be designed to speak to your audience. You must give them the reason to spend their time to read it.

You must know to create a blog that will attract and fascinate a reader. For that reason, I give you these 10 tips for blog starters.

1. Chose a Platform

You can use a several platforms to create your blog. WordPress, Blogger, and Tumblr are just a few of many. Which one you will choose depends on how involved you want to be in the creation process, what you have in plan to put on it and which you are most comfortable to use.

A lot of them are free to use so you can give a try and chose one that is good for you.

2. Decide About Content

Before you learn how to start your blog you must make a decision about what you will write. Blogging because of blogging is just senseless. After beginners enthusiasm coming a boring period and soon your blog, you created very carefully, will go into oblivion.

It is good, before you start your blog, to consider what kind of posts you will like to publish.

3. Use Simple Design

Don’t go crazy when creating your blog. Yes, you want to people remember your blog but not for a bad taste. A glut of fonts and a rainbow of colors can be very harmful to your blog.Keep your design simple in the range of three fonts and three colors.

4. Use Contrasting Colors

You should use a simple color scheme. Colors, in contrast, can work fine in the right design. It's a good rule of thumb that your blog features a main primary color, a shade of gray, and a color for your call-to-action.

5. Use White Space

It is totally wrong to fulfill all parts of the page with text and pictures. With using white space your blog will look much professional. Use white space to highlight key parts of your blog. You should not be afraid to leave some parts empty, where can fit.

6. Keep Your Design Goal-driven

The purpose of every blog is to get conversions. It is not matter did your conversions are signups, sales or inquiries, everything else comes second.

To get them, your blog design must have a strong call-to-action. It can be arrows, prominent buttons or headlines. Goal-driven design can help your blog convert, and keep your visitors coming back over and over again.

7. Follow Conventions

You should not forget conventions that every blog must follow. These include sidebars, headers, subscription options, author attribution and search bars.

If your blog follows these conventions it will be easy to navigate. This is a very important feature because make your content easy to find, and can keep your visitors longer on your blog.

8. Do Experiments

It is very important to follow conventions, but also you can break some rules from time to time.

Try some new elements, do experiments with fonts, colors, and placement. In that way, you can create an interesting experience for your audience. Just be sure that your readers always can find what they looking for.

9. Design responsive blog

Every respectable design blog is responsive. Especially today, when you blog can be reached from different devices, from mobile phones to desktop computers. Try to make blog designed to be functional and eye-catching.

10. Promote it

It is pointless to start your blog without knowing how to promote it. This is where social media play the role. You should create Twitter and Facebook account for your blog, or you can use already existing ones to share your posts. If you have a lot of pictures in your posts you can also create accounts on Instagram and Pinterest.

Most blogging platforms provide integration with social media so you can share your posts very quickly.
