As we have promised, here you can read about the differences between these two programs.

IN WHAT IS ADOBE XD MORE EFFICIENT?

The built-in screen saver only exists in this software. It's about an option that allows you to make video footage of all the interactions that occur while testing one prototype, without the need to install an additional recording program. This feature is also known as live prototyping.

Repeat grid is one of the basic functions of this Adobe program, with the help of which it is easy to repeat and multiply already set content structures, with a predefined configuration of spaces between objects and lines, text size, frame color and other elements.

Setting up an interactive prototype in an XD tool is possible without the third party being turned on, or without the need to install external plug-ins. Prototypes saved in the Experience Design, however, do not have the option of fixed sections such as headers and similar sections, as Kraft offers, an extension of the Sketch.
Collaboration involves the work of more designers on one project. Adobe XD offers an artboard that can access more people at once, and each change is saved in real-time.

There is also a visual versioning option that gives users the ability to access the revised content. At any time, an earlier version of the design can be accessed and transferred from one of the previous solutions to the current version.

Assets panel uniquely integrate style guides for color, (literal) characters and symbols. When something changes in the shared values panel, the change is automatically applied in each subsequent step. The sketch also uses different variables for color, the appearance of characters and symbols, but each variable is located in a separate panel.

IN WHAT IS SKETCH BETTER?

Plug-ins are the main trunks of Sketch. Through these, so-called, extensions, which are most often owned by other companies, this application offers a number of features. Users themselves choose which add-ons they will use, and besides, they can also create their own plug-in solutions using open codes. All add-ons are instantly installed, easy to use and easily synchronized with existing content.

Moving from screen to screen in Adobe XD is somehow difficult, as it means moving the entire screen, along with open navigation. In Sketch, this is better resolved, since there is an option link to the screen, as well as links to an external URL.

The price is also on the Sketch side. It's true that Adobe XD was almost free, as it was only available in the trial, so-called Beta version. It was, apparently, a marketing move by Adobe to attract as many users as free software. Now for a three-year subscription for Adobe XD, within the CC package, it is necessary to allocate 719 US dollars. On the other hand, a three-year license to use Sketch would be between $ 197 and $ 237. In fact, Sketch is only required to purchase a license for the first year, in the amount of $ 99, while any subsequent renewal of the license is paid only if the user wants all software improvements to be made available to him. However, the fact that all external accessories for Sketch are being paid. For example, Kraft is free for just one prototype, while an unlimited prototype costs about $ 25 a month.

IN SHORT

Both programs allow you to create vector graphics, introduce new symbols and styles, and create a specific document structure, and both are customized for Mac OS. On the other hand, only Adobe XD is available for Windows users, and only within this program, it is possible to repeat the created document structures, create and test the prototype design. Testing is also possible in Sketch, but only with the use of third-party accessories. Exterior add-ons are exactly what Sketch differentiates with XD, and this tool is also set at a lower price. No other programs offer an advanced photo editing option, with XD in the package, Photoshop, and Sketch provides this with add-ons.

THE CONCLUSION

It is clear that Adobe XD is going to offer its users a comprehensive tool that will track every aspect of user experience design. So, not only what Sketch already offers, but also the unification of everything that is available in Sketch is available only through additional extensions. Numerous designers believe that Adobe will quickly return the dominant role he had before the appearance of the rival.

Although Sketch has been the market's longest marketer for the longest, as a specialized tool for designing user experience, given the decades-old experience that Adobe has in the industry, many believe that it's only a matter of time before the XD will take on the primacy. Some believe that this will happen even before 2020.
It would be said that the time when Photoshop and Illustrator dominated the market for web design applications and programs passes. UI and UX designers now have many more options, and new programs are constantly appearing. Among them stand out Affinity Designer, Figma, UXPin, Principle and InVision Studio.

Will new tools shake the throne for Adobe XD and Sketch?

Perhaps this unique, ideal software will soon appear. Because designers like to say - they need a program that can work as fast as they think.

Until this happens, we would like to hear your determination - Adobe XD or Sketch? What options in these programs do you value and often use, and which do you think they need to change, upgrade or improve?
