Are your employees bored at work?

Workers are, on average, at work bored 10.5 hours a week (or about a quarter of working time), 40% of people think that, despite their good salary and working conditions, they can quit boredom, and 28% of workers in all structures think that the source of boredom lies in insufficiently challenging tasks, research shows.

And what do the employees do when they're bored?

If you thought of turning to devoted work, improvement, or research, you are mistaken. The situation is such that they put something on the Internet for their personal needs, go to social networks, watch their favorite series, read, read the news ... and all this during working hours.

At the end, who pays for it?

You probably know the answer yourself - You and your company for whose survival you are fighting all your might.

RECOGNIZE IF BOREDOM IS GETT INTO YOUR LINES SO FAR?

If you belong to a group of owners of the small and medium business, boredom at work is a powerful enemy, for which you may not even know that you persistently and relentlessly undermine.

In most cases, your employees will not only come to you and tell you how bored they are. Of course, they will not because they do not want to get lazy and unnecessary in your eyes. However, if this situation persists, especially if you have ambitious young people in your company, sooner or later you will decide to look for a new job that will be more challenging for them.

It is therefore important that, as soon as possible, you recognize the signs of boredom. Pay attention:

  • Whether your employee loses your attention
  • Whether his or her body language expresses negativity and throbbing
  • Whether your worker or worker often seeks out
  • Do employees often make the same mistakes, especially if they perform a job that requires a lot of repetition of the same action
  • whether the worker comes in and leaves the job exactly in a minute or a little earlier.

If you notice any of the above, it's time to do something, because these are all the symptoms of boredom at work, and the responsibility for repairing things is on you.

HOW TO FIGHT BOREDOM AT WORK?

Creating a working atmosphere where no one will be bored at all is not an easy task. Here are some tips that can help you with that intention.

Equally distribute monotonous tasks

Be fair to your employees. Boring jobs exist and have to be done, but it will be easier for everyone to get together if they pull together this load instead of just a few people being always delegated to them.

Remember that when someone does not complain, it does not mean that he is happy and happy with the task. Such people are enthusiastic companies but do not expect them to express their dissatisfaction with you. It is up to you to be a leader and see their needs.

Talk to the workers

Boredom at work is a problem that will not be solved by itself. So if you suspect that your employee is bored, set aside a little time for a relaxed conversation "in four eyes" and ask if he's bored, whether they miss the challenges and what you can do to help.

Solving the boredom problem may lie right in front of you. The employees themselves can give you excellent suggestions that will make their working hours more productive and useful for the company itself.

But, if you do not ask, you will never know it.

Give employees more responsibility

Boredom, in most cases, it is due to a lack of business challenges. This means that if a worker is bored, he probably does a job that does not require him the maximum that he can provide.
What can you do there?

Give the worker more demanding jobs, raise the scale of expectations, offer him to do something outside his regular duties ... Be careful not to overload your employee because in that case you are solving one and creating another problem.

Automate tasks that you can

Today, it is possible to organize a large number of jobs, even those that are boring, so that, practically, they perform themselves.

Automatic SMS reminder, programmed e-mails, and social networking messages ... are your allies who will give your employees more time for more important jobs and increase the profits of the company.

Break the routine

Even funny jobs can become boring if they are constantly working over and over again. Introduce diversity in the business organization.

Have morning classes be reserved for one, afternoon for other business activities, or introduce a rotation of workers in different jobs on each, for example, two hours (this is especially effective for serial production).

Allow more breaks

Instead of one big one, let your employees have smaller breaks or even extend the total time spent on pauses.

Even a five-minute break in which they can talk to each other about different topics or get settled will allow your employees to "reset" and chile again to work.

Introduce the system of competitions and rewards

The competitive spirit and the achievement of good results simply provide satisfaction to each of us. And only when everything is accompanied by a reward, no matter how big or small it was ...

Nothing prevents you from rewarding chocolate or public praise every day, the best worker. In return, you will get a business environment free from boredom.

In the end, do not forget, if you have found that there is one employee who is bored on the job, there is a high probability that there is more. By these methods, you can positively influence the entire collective and preventively affect the productivity of employees and a positive working environment.
