I read a Glopinion about children rights to work and I completely understand the reason why people are opposing children work options. I think the reason is that they don't make clear difference between child labour and a right to work, so I decided to write something about it and explain people what is what.
The important fact is that not every work done by children should be defined as CHILD LABOUR. Children who are participating work which is not negatively affecting their physical and mental development and health is not considered as child labour.
Children work options include the part-time jobs like helping the family business to do some easier jobs, like delivering milk, newspaper, simple tasks at a family store and similar things. These activities should be done at the spare time, during holidays and after school, because education mustn't suffer because of this. It is a great chance for children to become responsible and to earn some pocket money.
And, what is child labour?
"It refers to work that:
is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful to children; and
interferes with their schooling by:
depriving them of the opportunity to attend school;
obliging them to leave school prematurely; or
requiring them to attempt to combine school attendance with excessively long and heavy work."
