Hey guys, I want to share one thing with you now, but first of all, I would like to ask you a few questions. Do you like an option, a right to choose what is good for you and what is bad? You probably do. Would it be fine with you if someone made some decision instead of you and it affects your life? Please think about these questions and you are free to write answers in the comment of this text, or write an article about it.
Now, I am going to tell you about one man and a group of people who has the power to decide instead of millions of people and to change their lives that way. The man I am writing about is Erdogan, the premier of Turkey.
This man wants to forbid using Facebook and Youtube in his country. Yes, that might seem cool since there are so many bad things about these social networks, sometimes even I think someone should do that. There are many affairs about privacy on these networks, often many people are irritated by something shared on these networks, but there is something more important than that - an option to choose. If people don’t like Facebook, Youtube or the whole western culture, they should decide not to visit these websites. There shouldn’t be such things as dictating which networks people can and which they cannot use.
These networks are great for social life and they help you talk to your friends, but today, these networks are also used for sharing information, for marketing, for so many things. Often, the only place where people get informed about the latest news is Facebook. If someone bans the main source of information, it would be one of the biggest examples of media control. Without the main source of information, people won’t know what is happening, and it will leave space for criminals, for dictators. It would pull people back to the time when we didn’t have so advanced technology and when nothing could be checked.

Now, someone will tell, these media are also used for manipulation. Yes, that is right, but, let someone decide if something is right or wrong, don’t cancel people’s options, don’t dictate them what to do. If people think that something is bad for them, they will leave it by themselves, no one should tell them to do so. So, Mister Erdogan, in a time of freedom, democracy and human rights, you are trying to create darkness in your country. Please consider that Internet is used for education and many other things. Many companies base their business on Facebook and Youtube, and many of them are from Turkey. Because of that, don’t rush into a decision like this and stop destroying your own country.
