With Google Street View we can explore locations around the world, including national parks, many big cities, even the ocean bottom. However, Google added another option, and it is time travelling. Now we can watch how certain places looked like in history.

The manager of Street View, Winey Schett, named this option as a "digital time capsule of the world". Google collected pictures they were gathering since 2007 in order to make interactive timeline.
This new option serves as a digital timeline of recent history, like the reconstruction of Onagawa town in Japan after the big earthquake in 2011. It is even possible to change the season.
Street View will present locations with this option as a clock icon in the upper left angle. By clicking there, you will get a slider to watch photos from previous periods and seasons.
This option is currently available only for the desktop version of Google Maps, and it will need some time until it gets available to everyone.
