Peacocks are characterized by quite small head, long neck, short wings, tall legs and of course graceful and long tail. Because of their beautiful look, peacocks are among the most beautiful animals in the world. Peacocks emit very long and high-pitched sounds.

Peacocks are social animals that live in the communities and the typical community of peacock is the one that is made ​​up of one male and 3-5 females.

Peacocks are active from early morning, i.e. from the dawn and go to sleep with the first twilight. They are omnivorous and feed on the seeds, petals, grains, but mostly prefer to eat mice, small snakes and insects.

Characteristic of peacocks is sexual dimorphism, which is a phenomenon that members of the same species but of different sexes have clear differences in some features unrelated to the structure of the reproductive organs. This phenomenon is quite clearly evident in some bird species, such as the peacock, where the male and the female look so different that you would never at first glance be able to say that they belong to the same species.

Female peacock compared to males look quite unsightly. They have green, brown or gray feathers which don’t leave a special impression. They spread their tail only in an emergency or when they want to show themselves to other females. On the other hand, peacock males have blue-green or green feathers beautifully decorated with ornament in the shape of an eye, and a multitude of colors that we see when we look at the peacock's tail is the result of refraction of light from fibrous structure of its feathers. What is also interesting is that the color of the tail changes depending on the viewing angle. Unlike females, male spreads its tail when hunting and during courtship.

Peacock is also known as a bird with hundreds of eyes. Whoever had the opportunity to see a peacock saw that the patterns on the tail are such that they can be viewed as the stars, the universe, the sun, the moon and the night sky. It's one of the reasons why the peacock is symbol of omniscience for Christians.
