The Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights in the Novgorod region, Rospotrebnadzor, asked the Tver Regional Court to ban the production of some of McDonald's products in Russia.

We do not know if this is one of Russia's counter-responses to sanctions imposed against them by the U.S.,but it seems that the Russians also figured out that food from McDonald's is a garbage.

Prohibition may include Cheeseburger, Royal Cheeseburger, Filet-o-Fish, Chicken Burger, as well as Strawberry Sundae ice cream and milk cocktails. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 13th of August.

McDonald's products, by the content of fat, protein and carbohydrates, as well as indicators of energy valuesdeviate significantly from technological standards, explained Rospotrebnadzor.

The actual content of nutrients in these burgers, drinks and ice cream do not correspond to what is stated in McDonald's information for clients, media reports.

Routine inspection in two McDonald's restaurants in Veliky Novgorod in May this year was used as a reason for the trial. It showed significant violations of the law, according to the complaint.

The former chief state sanitary doctor of Russia, Gennady Onishchenko, said that Novogorodian McDonald's may be closed for 90 days for violation of manufacturing standards identified by the inspection in a routine check.

However, the head of Rospotrebnadzor for Novogorod region, Anatoly Rosolovsky, said that controversial restaurant were ordered to correct the irregularities, while ban on the production in Russia was not imposed.
