Video marketing is one of the biggest trends this year – use it to your advantage!

Video marketing is becoming essential for your business, so stop living in ignorance because it’s not bliss. Not using the potential of video marketing can only drive the customers away from you and into the arms of your visually superior competition.

Here are some things that are easy to understand and apply in video marketing.

Videos that you make can generally be divided into 3 categories: educational, inspirational or entertaining. My advice would be to combine all of them in order to keep things interesting for the customers. Educate them about your product, inspire them to take action and entertain them so that they enjoy making the said action.

So, what should you do in order to make a good video?

First - have a goal. You must know what your end goal when making a video is. And the best way to do it is to answer to an eternal question of any Internet user – why should I care? Once you know the answer to this question, find the most hypnotizing way to explain it to the viewers.

Next thing you should know about video marketing is probably its length! You only have about 10 seconds (even less) to grab the attention of your new, potential customer. If you are unable to impress the viewer in that time frame the effort will almost surely lead to not seeing the full story. They just click away…

So, how long should the video be? You should try to fit as much as you can in a nice, concise video of no more than 2 minutes. I could go on and on about it, but it was already well explained in this post.

Tell the story, don’t sell right away. Don’t be greedy. First, you must explain to your viewers the story behind your product. The reason, the effort, the passion behind it. Make it light, funny, fast, explosive, stunning in a way that it will be hard to look away. Make it ‘edgy’ even! Not getting the desired reaction to couple of first videos can only make you be better and learn more about how to do it properly. It takes practice and stamina to become a video marketing guru.

Call to action. Once your audience is mesmerized with the magic of your video, make them do something. Delivering a clear, powerful message is going to create results. People don’t have to guess what you wanted so say and they don’t want to (at least not when you are starting with video marketing)

Promotion will, in the end, play a key role. Great video that is not properly marketed will just drown is the sea of well promoted video marketing content. Make sure all your channels are synced and working together to make it all visible.

Making mistakes is a part of the process as I mentioned, but some can be easily avoided:

Use a bit of imagination and SEO when making a video title. If you can’t be found you can’t be seen.

Don’t just tell a dry story about your product. Humanize it by explaining how people who already use you product (or those who will) benefit from it.
