Small businesses usually have to pay close attention to their budget limits.

A big part of the small businesses money always goes to paying the rental space and employees, leaving a relatively small amount that can be invested in marketing. Realizing that budget limits don’t have to be such a bad thing (lesser the money, lessen the risk!), you can turn to cheaper marketing ideas for your small business.

Reach out to people and make yourself known with some cheap ideas that always have a high potential to expand your business.

Write Your Content

If you are an expert in your niche, there should be no reasons to hire expensive writers for your content. Writing your own content can not only influence your budget, but also the quality of writing and the sharpness of the message you are trying to get out there to everyone! Because, who could be better at getting your message out there than yourself?

Even if you have relatively small or no experience in writing content, you can change that quickly, simply by studying the competition and their way of getting the message out there. Learning stuff online is free, it just takes a bit of your time.

Personal ties to someone who is good at writing can also help as you can just ask them to do this for you as a favor.

Flyers

One of the most common examples of cheap marketing ideas for small businesses. Maybe not the best ecological one, but you can change that down the road. The most expensive part of flyers is always the design, and there are a vast number of free online tutorials that can help you create the perfect flyer.

Make sure that flyers carry the stamp of your business and make them eye-catching (better in color than black and white). The message it contains should be clear and direct, making the potential customers know what exactly do they gain by coming to you. You can even do your own printing at home or at the office if you have your own printer and save your small business the unnecessary expense.

Business Cards

One of the most important weapons in your marketing pocket is your business card. Coming up with a design for a card is more complex than for a flyer, because it is meant to last longer. It should radiate the vibe of your business and deliver that unique brand message. Share them out to any new acquaintances and potential customers alike.

Social Media

Having an online presence with various social media can give you the much needed edge over competition in terms of communication and connection with customers.

Word-of-mouth has evolved into digital-word-on-screen. Social media marketing is not about promoting your brand; it is about getting your message and products out on a digital scale. This way, you are not limited to talk in your town, but you can reach thousands of people… fast!

Creating a social media presence is going to make you realize one thing – you are not alone! In the vast world of social media, there are many small or big businesses in your niche. While social media focus of many business owners is simply getting more audience and sales, there is something that will make your primary goal easier. Learning! Through discussion with other owners and promoters, you can learn the newest trends on the market and start following them quickly.

There is also a good chance that those businesses want to share some of your work if your share theirs. So this creates a ripple effect for your business, if you know how to harness it.

When compared with other ways of marketing (newspapers, TV commercials), social media is many times cheaper and almost equally effective.
