What will be popular in the field of graphic design?

The end of the year is usually the time when we are questioning what we have done well in the past 12 months. Likewise, in the design, it is almost traditional to see the trends that have dominated and where the signs for the next year are visible. What will be popular in the field of graphic design?

In the research, we helped with the statements of designers and experts from the Creative Bloq site and other eminent design blogs and we found out what the tendencies might be in the year 2018 that will make a movement in graphic design.

GRAPHIC TRENDS FOR 2018:

1. UNUSUAL COLORS

The use of non-classical colors has touched not only graphic design but also the Internet and almost all types of applied art. Fluorescent colors, unusual compounds, coloring in all shapes, moved from the smartphone screen to packages, posters, and commercials. This tendency not only affected the print media, but also reflected in the web design, and so we increasingly see bold combinations like those on the site of the recently redesigned Dropbox.

2. RETURN OF BRUTALISM

Brutalism is a style of modern architecture that developed between 1954 and 1970. Although he did not have enough supporters other than the architects themselves, this style now returns to the small door again.

Minimalism in detail, the rough appearance of raw materials and the utmost use of concrete as a construction material are now only a basis for the presentation of graphic works.

3. MODERN DEATH NATURE

This artistic motif is known from antiquity. Death nature shows inanimate and immovable objects, and now in modern times, it consists of modern elements, such as abstract compounds colored with bright or milky colors.

4. LOGO REDESIGN

Famous firms that have already established their business and are not ready for a change in identity much miss. This year, we witnessed the redesign of the visual identity of brands such as eBay and Youtube, who have improved their old logos in order to retain old qualities in new clothes. This trend, however, began to give an indication two years ago when Google and Facebook changed their old logo, and it is not surprising that this global movement continues.

5. GENERIC GRAPHICS

In the press, we increasingly see the use of software for a generic drawing of graphics. Recently, Nutella dropped a line of colorful packets for this cocoa cream, as well as Coca-Cola, which boiled its 0.3 l bottles into abstractly chopped cellophane. The tendency is to put this slightly avant-garde technique into the mainstream graphics resources.

6. THE FLAT DESIGN ON THE PACKAGING

Flat design has long on the scene. Logos, websites, various graphics and promotional materials - all this has been leveled so far without shadows and unnecessary glittery details. However, now packaging design has taken this distinction.

7. 3D MODELS IN TYPOGRAPHY

Three-dimensional modeling slowly begins to be used in graphic design for marketing purposes. 3d models work so naturally and thus attract attention that even large brands tend to use them. The monochromatic background from which the typography or some other objects come out is something that we could see more often in the future.

8. HAND DRAWN ELEMENTS

And finally, a trend or frenzy for hand-drawn illustrations; It seems they will never get out of fashion. Direct, personal, and so natural, hand-drawn elements of graphics are right refreshments in the digital world dominated by artistic creations. Unusual figures, personal seal, and bugging - all this can contribute to the graphics work you create in 2018.

Of course, all of the above does not necessarily mean that it will be fulfilled - because trends are never imposed, but come naturally and go away.
