Golden Globe Predictions 2020: Power Ranking This Year’s Most Likely Nominees

Come January each year, the Golden Globes kick off the film industry’s awards season in earnest, establishing the early front runners ahead of the BAFTAs and the Academy Awards.

While last year's Golden Globes red carpet didn’t play host to political fashion statements on the scale of the previous year, attendees made some bold declarations of their own: co-host Sandra Oh bemoaned the lack of female directors in her opening monologue, whilst Best Supporting Actress winner Regina King championed equality in her acceptance speech, an echo of Frances McDormand’s words on inclusion riders in 2018.

Hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the show is known for its relatively relaxed atmosphere; there’s an open bar, table seating that allows guests to mingle freely, and an anything-goes spirit that has resulted in many viral moments over the years. Add to that showstopping red-carpet looks, controversial hosts and rousing political speeches, and you have one of the most memorable awards ceremonies on the calendar.

From the nominations to how to watch the ceremony, here's Vogue’s definitive guide to everything you need to know about the 77th Golden Globes ceremony.

Who are the Golden Globes 2020 nominees?
The Golden Globe nominees were announced on Monday, 9 December 2019 (5am PT / 8am ET). As predicted Jennifer Lopez received a nod for Hustlers, Saoirse Ronan was nominated for Best Actress (Drama) for Greta Gerwig's Little Women (though Gerwig did not receive a Best Director nomination) while Bombshell's Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama), respectively.
