TAKE CONTROL

Taking control does not mean becoming possessive or dissatisfied. Controlling behaviors lead to rigid perfectionism and build the need for excessive responsibility. Productivity is related to something else. All stressful or emerging situations require some dose of control. However, people often make mistakes by focusing on what they cannot control, on what depends on a number of other circumstances, people and factors.

There are tasks or situations that depend solely on you, or at least you can greatly influence them. Do not leave them to chance. Each reaction represents a way out of the comfort zone. Taking control of professional development is about just how proactive you are. Opposite to the expectations and expectations of others, focus on what you can do yourself to be more satisfied and successful. When faced with a challenge, take responsibility and confront yourself before the situation becomes a more serious problem.

It is true that proactive people rarely when you can surprise and capture the unprepared. This is because proactivity requires a developed ability to predict problems and events. Anticipating possible problems is a prerequisite for preventing unforeseen and problematic situations. Proactive people are able to suppress potential difficulties and thus avoid feeling frustrated and powerless.

PLANNING

People who are proactive make real plans for the future. Although you would prefer to live only here and now, it is imperative that you look ahead, think of steps and anticipate outcomes. See the future as part of everyday life. Your actions and decisions are part of a series of events leading to one final solution. In order to reach your destination, it is important to know where you started from, where you are on the development path right now, but also where you want to get.

Planning involves knowing your own most productive periods of the day. If you catch a good rhythm at the beginning, everything will be easier later. Recognize the period when you are most energetic but also able to keep focus and focus on the task and goal. This is exactly the time when you will be able to face the daily challenges and obligations in the most productive way. In order to be effective, it is important that you know your nature, rituals, and habits.

BE A PART OF THE WIDER SYSTEM

Being proactive means being an active observer as well as being a participant. Take the initiative and be part of the ultimate solution. As a member of a particular collective, you are part of a larger whole whose elements you influence, while being constantly influenced by the actions of others. Get to know all the components to successfully work with them. Listen carefully to gain a better understanding of your overall functioning, but also to create a realistic image in your head.

If you want to get a bigger picture and a more comprehensive impression, look at your work environment globally and from many different angles. By respecting all sectors and segments, you will see the interplay and interconnectivity between them. Discover what others are doing, how you can accelerate that work, but also how it reflects on your business ideas and goals.

DAVID ALLEN MODEL

David Allen, the creator of various time management methods, has proposed a model that provides a proactive approach to decision making and problem-solving, consisting of four criteria. By defining context, available time and energy and setting priorities, you will be more successful in realizing your vision.

Context refers to everything in the external environment that affects the execution of your tasks. A particular location, environment and other material needs, as well as the human resources involved in achieving your goals, fall into context. Also, the context encompasses all the desires you want to achieve on the way to your destination.

The second criterion is the time available. Even if you are not skilled in organizing working hours, it is good that time management is learned. Fulfilling your obligations in the best possible way, but also within the timeframe depends on a good estimate and respect for the time available to you.

When it comes to productivity, energy is one of the most significant factors. Whether it is a creative, logical or physical endeavor, the quality of your work will depend on your energy tanks.

Once you know what to do, have organized the time and accumulated enough energy, it is your turn to make a priority list. Only by defining the previous items will you be able to determine what, at a given moment, are the most important tasks that you need to complete.

FINALLY

Of course, there are a number of situations where it is okay to be reactive. You can't make some decisions at the moment, and there are numerous situations that require you to adapt, tolerate, or be flexible. You will happen to be setting off long-term goals in order to meet your short-term needs, but also to be blocked due to unexpected and sudden events that you could not have foreseen. Even then, proactive thinking and acting will give you a significant edge over others.

Proactivity takes time to consider options and alternatives. In order to make decisions that lead to the achievement of your goals, you must anticipate problems and respond to potential losses and consequences in a timely manner. Proactive employees look forward, think positively, and work hard to stay focused on progress.

Have you been proactive enough this year? Want to be bolder in the coming period? You will agree, the New Year is the right time to summarize your achievements so far and to look at your current state of play when it comes to achieving your goals.
