GLBrain wants use the internet to form a Global Brain and make change happen. In order to achieve this goal a platform has been developed to attract a big user base by offering all well-known functions of social networks but based on our principles of privacy and data control by our users. On such basis we offer new functionalities and a new business model allowing and helping our users to follow our core values of sustainability, social responsibility and creating civic value.

Data security/ privacy

• Users can choose to be registered anonymously or by name
• GLBrain allows anonymous registration and guarantees user that there will be no abuse of user-generated data
• GLBrain offers a technical intelligence and user surface on one level: users benefits from this set up by unique functions like counting of page-views, demographic statistics, rating of content (1-5 stars) and adding to MyBrain - all that is free of charge
  
• Registration just requires a few user data: email address can be provided via a yahoo/ hotmail/ gmx/ gmail address - even for an organization
• GLBrain offers security of data as servers are located in Germany
• All deleted information, photos, etc. will be instantly deleted from the GLBrain server – there is NO storing of deleted data!
• Technical set up allows full protection of user profile and user has via account settings possibility of control of his personal data
• User can delete his account at any time; data of deleted user accounts are finally deleted within 30 days – period in between allows user to re-activate account

Legal

• Possible anonymity  warrants legal compliance with EU laws regarding “Mandatory declaration of real name”; the user will not be forced to register with real name and further personal data – Facebook has forced users to disclose name and personal data and in case of non-compliance respective user accounts have been barred
• GLBrain is legally set up on German data law
• Compliance with California Online Privacy Protection Act
• Compliance with Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (minimum age 13)
• GLBrain data protection guidelines are based on Federal Trade Commission Fair, Compliance with Privacy Alliance, Trust Guard Privacy Requirements and Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act
• Notification of any change of data protection

Content

• The structure of content is optically attractive and easily to embed with photos, hyperlinks and/ or videos (just from youtube and Vimeo – as those are pre-checked regarding inappropriate content)
• GLBrain offers links to social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Sulia, google+, linked-in and to send content via email
• The structure of content is set up user-friendly based on topics, date, etc.
• Content can be written as GLOpinions (Global in English), Lopinion (local) or Articles (English/ local) and be linked with Articles to series, either linked with GLOpinions or Lopinions under “Create article” and “Create/ Relate a Lopinion” or link with the article and video
• GLBrain offers special tools like GLOVO (Global Votings) for global and local polls and GLOMO (Global motion) for campaigns or movement which can be initiated by companies, NGO, associations as well as by individuals – this must be set up on a GLopinion/ Lopinion unter “Related Tools”; please click GLOMO or GLOVO, then button “New GLOVO” or “New GLOMO” shows up
• Search engine enables easily to find content or authors –  type Sno … and you find e.g. Snowden
• Detailed search engine allows search for batches like CSR, Bio, Jobs, etc. - just click this link and then the blue botton for the search
  

Examples of other functions

• User profile offers links to e-shops combining the presentation of goods and services a with selling feature
• Intranet: GLBrain allows with the Friends/Follower function establishing hierarchies of companies or organizations: the top level invites the second level as friends and that accepts, afterwards the first and second level invites the third level and by accepting invitation third level is connected with second and first level; all different hierarchy-level will be informed about messages and new content of other levels
